Since the Robert Mueller Airport was decomssioned in 1999, planning began on the only current city master planned community. Mueller is designed on a theme of “New Urbanism”, which effectively limits traffic in the neighborhoods. This allows residents to walk to local shops and restaurants, creating more of a village-like feel that residents of neighborhoods such as Hyde Park and Travis Heights enjoy. They have done this by creating smaller footprints (lots size) and surrounding the community with a network of parks and greenspace.

Currently, there have been two phases of Mueller Austin homes and condos totaling around 500 homes. These homes are priced between 100k and 700k with the median at 350K. The final plan is to have over 4,500 homes, condos, and apartments in the neighborhood. Mueller is home to the award winning green building that is the Dell Childrens Hospital. Retail has already been completed that fronts I35, and a grocery store is planned for early 2011, with the town center to follow.
